Presales in France in 2027: Préventes and Nominative Tickets

A French presale, known locally as a prévente, works inside one of the most regulated ticketing environments in Europe. France was among the first countries to make the habitual resale of event tickets without the organiser's permission a criminal offence, and that legal backdrop shapes almost everything about how préventes are designed: who can buy, how tickets are delivered, and what happens when a buyer cannot attend. The market itself is concentrated. Paris hosts the large majority of international concerts, Ticketmaster France and Fnac Spectacles sell most major shows, and a small group of promoters decides when and how each release takes place. For fans, that means the French system is less about hunting for an obscure early window and more about understanding the official routes, preparing accounts in advance and knowing which rules apply to the tickets once bought.

Our tracking of 2027 tours gives a clear picture of the current rhythm. We follow 43 tours with French dates in 2027, totalling 74 shows, and 50 of those shows are in Paris, with Lyon, Bordeaux, Toulouse, Lille, Strasbourg, Reims and Amnéville sharing the rest. Presales in our data fell on a Friday 15 times, on a Wednesday nine times and on a Thursday four times, while general sales opened on a Friday in 28 cases. The median gap between prévente and general sale is zero days, which means that on many French releases both happen on the same day. The median lead between the first sale and the show is around 201 days, slightly shorter than in Germany or Spain. February 2027 is the busiest month in our French data. Among presales we have tagged by type, Live Nation presales are the most common, followed by artist, Mastercard and Amex windows.

The legal frame around a French presale

The starting point for understanding any French presale is the law on ticket resale. Since a law of 12 March 2012, article 313-6-2 of the French Penal Code has made it an offence to sell, offer for sale or provide the means to sell tickets for sporting, cultural or commercial events on a habitual basis without the authorisation of the producer, the organiser or the owner of the exploitation rights. The penalty described in legal commentary is a fine of up to 15,000 euros, doubled for repeat offences. The scope was later widened to cover live performances explicitly, and in December 2018 the Constitutional Council upheld the provision. Two words matter here. The first is habitual: a fan who occasionally resells a ticket because they cannot attend is not the target. The second is authorisation: resale organised or approved by the organiser, typically through an official platform, is permitted. This structure explains why French releases lean so heavily on official resale and transfer tools.

Official resale routes for French presale buyers

Because authorised resale is lawful, most large French concerts offer an official way to pass on a ticket. Ticketmaster France provides a resale function on many events, and other platforms and venues offer their own transfer or exchange systems, sometimes at face value or with a capped margin set by the organiser. The rules differ by show, so the same platform may allow resale on one concert and disable it on another at the artist's request. For a buyer in a French presale, the practical message is to read the resale and transfer conditions on the event page before purchasing, because they will define your options if your plans change. Independent marketplaces also operate in France under their own terms, and the legal position of each transaction depends on the facts and the organiser's authorisation. Our resale rules guide compares the main models neutrally and explains the questions to ask before listing or buying a ticket.

Ticketmaster France, Fnac Spectacles and the French presale platforms

Two platforms sell most major concerts in France. Ticketmaster France is the default for many international tours, particularly those promoted by Live Nation France, and in our 2027 data it is the platform most frequently named for French presales. Fnac Spectacles is the other pillar, with a long history of selling concert tickets online and in Fnac stores across the country. Many large shows are sold on both platforms at once, with separate allocations, so a show listed as sold out on one may still show availability on the other for a short time. See Tickets also appears on some French releases; in our data the aespa date in Paris was sold through Live Nation, See Tickets and Ticketmaster. Club shows and independent venues may use DICE or their own box office systems. Before a French presale, identify which platform runs the early window, because a presale is frequently exclusive to one seller even when the general sale is shared.

How Fnac Spectacles fits into the French presale picture

Fnac Spectacles is operated by France Billet, a company long associated with the Fnac Darty retail group. In 2019 the German ticketing group CTS Eventim took a minority stake in France Billet, and at the end of 2024 it completed the purchase of a further 17 per cent from Fnac Darty, bringing its holding to 65 per cent while Fnac Darty kept 35 per cent and continued to support the business through its stores and the Fnac Spectacles brand. For fans, the change has been largely invisible: the brand, the website and the in-store counters remain. It does mean that the second-largest ticketing channel in France is now part of the same group that owns Eventim in Germany and TicketOne in Italy. Fnac's membership programme has historically been associated with advantages on some shows, such as reduced prices or earlier access, but these are set campaign by campaign, so check the current conditions when a tour is announced.

Promoters who shape each French presale

Behind every poster there is a promoter, and in France a handful of names account for a large share of international concerts. Live Nation France promotes many pop, rock and urban tours and usually structures the release with a Live Nation presale through Ticketmaster, sometimes preceded by an artist presale; our data shows that pattern on dates such as Weezer's Paris show, which went on sale on Friday 14 August 2026. Gérard Drouot Productions is one of the longest-established independent promoters in France, associated with major international artists at large Paris venues. Other independent promoters and agencies handle French-language tours, club circuits and festivals across the country. Each promoter decides whether there is a presale, how long it lasts and which partners receive allocations. Following the promoter's newsletter is therefore one of the most effective ways to hear about a French presale before it opens. Our promoter presale guide explains how these windows are typically allocated.

Live Nation and artist routes into a French presale

Among the 2027 French dates we have tagged by presale type, the Live Nation presale is the most common, followed by the artist presale. The Live Nation route usually requires an account on the promoter's site or an email sign-up, and the access link is shared shortly before the window opens. The aespa date in Paris is an example from our data: the Live Nation presale and the general sale both took place on Wednesday 6 May 2026. Artist presales depend on the act's own mailing list or fan platform and often cover all European dates at once, which can make them very competitive. If you follow an international artist, signing up to their official newsletter as soon as a tour is rumoured is one of the most reliable ways to qualify. We never publish presale codes; our alerts simply tell you which official channel runs the prévente and when. See our artist presale guide for more detail.

Card and member windows in a French presale

Card presales are a smaller but regular part of the French market. Mastercard has run priority access on selected concerts in France, and our 2027 data includes Mastercard presales on French dates. American Express also runs presales on certain international tours: Harry Styles' four Paris dates in July 2027 had an Amex window, with presale activity on Monday 14 September 2026 and general sale on Wednesday 16 September. Eligibility is usually limited to cards issued in the relevant market, and purchase limits can be tighter than in the general sale. Member programmes, including those of retailers and venues, can offer early access on specific shows, and some venues invite newsletter subscribers to their own prévente. None of these programmes guarantees access to every concert, and the terms are set for each campaign. Check the card issuer's or partner's current conditions when a tour is announced. Our guides to the Mastercard presale and Amex presale describe how card windows usually work.

Nominative tickets and dynamic QR codes in a French presale

France has moved further than many markets towards named and app-based tickets. For high-demand concerts, particularly at stadiums and large arenas such as the Stade de France, Paris La Défense Arena and the Accor Arena, buyers are often asked to enter the name of each attendee at checkout, and the ticket may be delivered only to a mobile app shortly before the show. Some releases use dynamic QR codes that change regularly, so a screenshot will not work at the gate. These measures are designed to support the legal framework on resale: by tying each ticket to a person and an app, organisers can make sure that transfers happen through authorised channels. For buyers, the practical consequences are clear. Have the full names of everyone in your group ready before the prévente opens, make sure the spelling matches their identification, and check that the phone you will bring to the venue can run the ticketing app. Name changes may be possible through the platform, sometimes with a fee or a deadline.

What changes on the day for a nominative French presale

Nominative releases slow down checkout slightly, because each ticket requires a name and sometimes additional details. During a fast prévente, those extra seconds can matter, so it is worth preparing a note with names in the exact format the platform expects. Some events limit the number of tickets per buyer more strictly when tickets are named, and some require the buyer to attend in person as one of the ticket holders. At the venue, staff may compare the name on the ticket with identification, although the intensity of checks varies from show to show. If someone in your group can no longer attend, use the platform's official name-change or resale function rather than simply forwarding the ticket, because an informal transfer may not match the name on the ticket. Read the event-specific conditions carefully, as they differ between promoters and venues. Our presale day checklist includes a section on preparing names and accounts.

When a French presale usually opens

The standard start time for a French presale or general sale is 10:00 Paris time, and most of the 2027 releases we track followed that pattern, although some opened at 11:00, noon or later in the day. Friday is the most common day for general sales in our French data, with Wednesday and Thursday as the usual alternatives for a separate prévente. A typical French sequence looks like this: an announcement early in the week, a presale on Wednesday or Thursday morning, and general sale on Friday at 10:00. Some releases compress everything into one day, as the aespa date showed. Occasionally a release falls at the weekend; Angèle's INSTINCT Tour 2027, with twelve French dates, went on sale on Saturday 5 September 2026 in our data. Pomme's French dates had presale activity on Thursday 24 September and general sale on Friday 25 September 2026. Our France presale calendar lists confirmed windows for 2027 tours.

A French presale outside Paris

Paris dominates the French concert calendar, but regional dates can be a smart alternative. In our 2027 data, Lyon has seven shows, Bordeaux four and Toulouse two, with further dates in Lille, Strasbourg, Reims and Amnéville. French-language artists in particular tend to tour more widely: Angèle's tour includes arenas in Amnéville, Bordeaux, Lille, Lyon and Montpellier, and Pomme plays Bordeaux and Lyon as well as Paris. International acts more often play a single Paris date or a short run of Paris nights, sometimes with one regional stop such as Lyon. When a Paris prévente sells out quickly, a regional date on the same tour may still have availability, and it often goes on sale at the same time through the same platforms. Train connections make a trip to Lyon, Lille or Bordeaux realistic from Paris. Regional arenas usually have their own box offices and may sell through Ticketmaster France, Fnac Spectacles or both.

French presale FAQ

These answers address the questions we receive most often about presales in France. They are written for the 2027 season and describe how the French market generally works, with the legal position given as it stood at the time of writing. Programmes run by card issuers, retailers and promoters change regularly, and each tour sets its own rules, so always check the official terms when a release is announced. We do not publish, share or sell presale codes, and you should never pay anyone for one. Codes and access links come only from the official channel running the prévente, whether that is the artist, the promoter, the venue, a card issuer or the ticketing platform. What we offer is timing and location. Use the alert form on this page, or tap the alert button next to a tour, and we will email you when a French presale is announced and which official channel runs it.

Is it legal to resell a ticket bought in a French presale?

Occasional resale by a fan who cannot attend is not what the 2012 law targets. The criminal offence in article 313-6-2 of the Penal Code concerns the habitual sale of tickets without the authorisation of the organiser or rights holder. Resale through a platform authorised by the organiser, such as an official resale function on the original ticketing site, is precisely the kind of authorised route the law contemplates. That said, many tickets are now nominative, and the terms of sale for each event may restrict transfers or require them to go through a specific channel. Before reselling, check the event conditions and use the official resale or name-change function where one exists. This is general information rather than legal advice; for a specific situation, the organiser's terms and the platform's help pages are the right place to start, followed by independent legal advice if needed.

Can I buy in a French presale from outside France?

Yes, for most artist and promoter presales. These generally require an account on the relevant platform and an email registration, not a French address, and fans from Belgium, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and elsewhere buy Paris tickets every year. The main practical issues are payment and delivery. Make sure your card accepts online payments in euros and that your bank's security confirmation will work during a fast checkout. Mobile tickets have largely removed delivery problems, but some releases still offer postal delivery only within France. Card presales are more restrictive: an Amex or Mastercard window usually requires a card issued in the relevant market. Member presales linked to French retailers require membership of that programme. If a release is nominative, foreign buyers simply enter the names of the attendees as they appear on their passports or identity cards. Create your account on the French platform well before the day to avoid verification delays.

Why does my French presale ticket only appear in the app?

Many French concerts now use mobile tickets that appear only in the ticketing platform's app, sometimes only a few days before the event. The barcode or QR code may refresh regularly, so it cannot be copied as a screenshot. This system supports the French framework on resale by ensuring that tickets move only through authorised channels, and it reduces the risk of counterfeit tickets. For you, it means installing and updating the app before the show, logging in with the same account used for the purchase, and checking that your phone has enough battery and a working data connection at the venue. If you are buying for friends, use the app's official transfer function so that each person has the ticket on their own phone. If the ticket has not appeared by the date stated in your confirmation email, contact the platform's customer service before the day of the concert.

Are French presale tickets cheaper than general sale?

Usually not. A French presale gives earlier access to the same categories and prices offered at general sale, and booking fees apply in the same way. The advantage is the choice of seats and categories before most buyers reach the seat map. Some member programmes have offered reduced prices on certain shows, but these are specific campaigns rather than a general rule. On tours that use premium or demand-based pricing, prices for some categories can change during the release depending on demand. For that reason, compare the total price at checkout, including fees, rather than the headline price on the poster, and set your budget before the queue opens. Remember that French law does not give a general fourteen-day withdrawal right for tickets to dated leisure events, so a confirmed purchase cannot normally be cancelled simply because you change your mind. Refunds are generally tied to a cancellation of the event itself.

When will more French presales for 2027 be announced?

Announcements continue throughout the year. With a median lead of around 201 days between the first sale and the show in our French data, concerts in the second half of 2027 are likely to be announced and sold between late 2026 and spring 2027. Stadium shows at the Stade de France and summer open-air dates are often announced earlier, sometimes a year or more ahead. Festivals follow their own calendar, with early passes released months before the full lineup. We do not estimate announcement dates that have not been published, and tours that have not been confirmed by the promoter remain unannounced in our calendar. The most dependable approach is to sign up for alerts on the artists, cities and venues you care about, so you hear about each French presale as soon as the official channel announces it. Our presale calendar is updated as new windows are confirmed.
